Seeds Aside

So here is a game… Would you be able to guess to which species these different seeds belong to? (It’s really a game, for I know the answers).

Hint-1: the smaller seeds are from species #2 (not so small though), but other species are big seeds.

Hint-2: there’s at least one reader (outsider) that has a clear advantage at this game…

So here we go:

Species #1

Species #2

 SG1

Species #3 (the easiest one!)

 SC2
And another picture from #3, if you need more details:
SC1

Subsidiary question: When should I give the answers? :-)

  1. The seeds of species #1are from Ricinus communis;
    Seeds of species #2: i don’t know.
Seeds of species #3 are from Bertolettia excelsa, the Brazilian Nut.

    This game is good!

    Congratulations!

  2. Seeds from #1, though they indeed look like Ricinus, are much bigger and come from a tree.

Seeds from #2 come from a red fruit… (other hints may spoil the game).

As castanhas do Pará eram frescas e deliciosas! ;-)

  3. Can’t you give us a scale ?

Is this answer right “seeds of species #3 are from Bertolettia excelsa, the Brazilian Nut” ?

Where does species comes from ? I’m sure that I’ve seen it before.

  4. My last question is about species #2, sorry.

  5. The first seeds are almost as big as those from the third species…

I will keep giving more info as people are making guesses, else the answers will be too obvious.

Yes, I am making up rules as it comes, so what? :-P

  6. 8-o ! Ok, your a dictator ! ;-)
But for the third seed, is the first answer right ?

Is, Seed #2, Taxus baccata ?

  7. Okay, I declare seeds #3 identified.

(But if you were to read Brazilian, comment #2 was already giving the answer ;)

  8. and seed 2 ? If (Taxus baccata) is right or not ?
Je te signale que je fais un effort pour l’anglais, alors le Brésilien, épargne le nous, s’il te plait !

  9. I didn’t say anything about, therefore the competition is still open… This is not Taxus baccata :-)

  10. You write in Portuguese too? In addition to English and French.
Pois realmente, as castanhas-do-pará quando estão frescas são deliciosas.
Seed # 1 are very similar to Ricinus.
I know that the seeds # 2 are tropical, but I do not know what they are.

  11. I write in Portuguese only with help from my partner, who is fluent (though pretends otherwise) in five languages…

Okay, so one more hint: all species are tropical and though the first is grown tropic-wide all come from Brazil. (This is a rather big hint ;)

  14. Ok! The seeds of Species #1 are of Hevea brasiliensis., the rubber tree. But I don’t know yet the second. At some moment I discover.

  15. More seeds to ponder:

  16. [...] that destroys their sexual structures. Good reason to take a bath, no? There’s also a little seed identity parade, but don’t read the comments if you want to [...]

  17. Still one species left… Who will make this last guess right?

  18. So the last species to guess (#2) was… this!.

Thanks all for playing and congrats to Rafael…
