(Some English below)

A flower bath

Bathing is somewhat about preventing parasites, its solvant be it water, dust or mud. Some species like using soap. I was thinking about plants, didn’t you? Yep, certain plants use soapy mucilages and are keen on bathing…

If you still don’t know about this famous blog carnival, then I guess you’ll have the basics at Tangled Up In Blue Guy here… Moths, horses, and dicyemids are served, or you’ll fall for the possible placebo effect of quackery (everyone should have a duck as pet). This is one more interesting edition, so go read!

Artichokes and cardoons

First thought as two distinct species, the artichoke (Cynara cardunculus L. subsp. scolymus) and the cardoon (Cynara cardunculus L. subsp. cardunculus) vegetables are currently grouped together into a single species along with their wild ancestor (Cynara cardunculus L. subsp. sylvestris). Though the taxonomical debate was no way easy (just like it was for the origin of [...]

Pollenizers!

Did you know the difference between pollenizers and pollinators? I learned it on wikipedia today.
The pollinator is the animal, usually an insect, that brought up the pollen to a flower. The pollenizer is the plant that produced the pollen that was carried over. In self-compatible species, plants are thus self-pollenizers.
Okay, I understand this may be a crucial [...]
